Post WHD~ lov’n DC Hoopers!
Yesterday’s WORLD HOOP DAY ‘09 on the Monument grounds proved to be the beautiful time we’d all dreamed of- and the rain held out completely! There were so many familiar faces to greet, I hardly had time to hoop! But I did manage to get in some tips from the incredibly talented poi-artist and teacher-breaker-downer: Drex, whom I had not met prior to the event~ so thanks for the flow guidance, Drex! It’s really wonderful that hooping falls under the larger umbrella of ‘flow arts’ and that the new DC Hoop Collective website made by Jaguar Mary totally reflects this fact. As Poi-spinners explore more of the horizontal plane, and hoopers continue to get more into the vertical plane, flow worlds will gracefully collide in a brain dance that can only result in bringing a lot more ambidexterity, increased brain fitness, and super amounts of Joy for all involved!! A special and large thanks to DC’s Beth Williams a.k.a. Miss Fortune (and her young’uns: Eva and Lola) for helping spearhead the DC~WHD celebration, as well as Jocelyn Gordon, Katie “Surprise!” Desmond, and all the other DMV hoopers who helped organize and participate in World Hoop Day 2009! Looking forward to 10.10.10~
