Hoopin Momma’s Day ‘09
Today is the last day of the 2009 Hoop Convergence in the beautiful town of Carrboro, North Carolina. I am amongst over a hundred other passionate hoopers from all over the U.S.A., as well as a handful of folks from Canada and even Europe. Many of these powerful movers are not only spreading love through the whirl of the hoola hoop, but also through their full-time and life long jobs of mothering children. Hooping is sometimes a lot like being in the eye of the storm (in a good way!) and hence can really help to ground people out that are in the midst of busy or stressful lives. I cannot think of a more taxing job than that of mothering and child rearing. Whether you are currently experiencing a healthy pregnancy, wanting to heal from birth trauma or reduce weight postpartum, or if you gave birth long ago and are simply searching for a joy-inducing & self-loving practice, hooping is a wonderful tool for growth, recovery, embodiment, and rejuvenation. I feel very fortunate to be able to know so many hoopers that are also shining examples of motherhood. In the brilliant words of Soul II Soul, “Keep on movin… find your own way to stay.”

Lovely post. It was a joy to spend Mother’s Day hooping with you!!!
