Hoop for Hope~ 3rd of May 2009
This is the fourth year that my family’s joined the annual Race for Hope in Washington DC to fight against brain tumors, remember loved one/s lost, and actively support brain tumor survivors. For the first couple of years we called ourselves Team Mimi, in honor of my dear mother Mary Ann who passed away in November 2006 from a Glioblastoma. This past year, in May of 2008 my big brother Thomas was also diagnosed with a brain tumor~ and has been an incredibly strong, positive, and healthful spirit in the face of it all. In 2009 we’ve renamed ourselves SuperPowers! to incorporate our awesome family name, in addition to epitomizing what we feel our team is really all about~ spreading love and light and strength in the midst of hardship… just like your average superhero.
Hoop for Hope is HoopingPowers creation to honor all people effected by brain tumors with the positive movement of the hoola hoop, in addition to raising critical funds necessary to fight the good fight. It’s FUNdraising at it’s best, folks! On the morning of race day, May 3rd, in Washington DC’s Freedom Plaza, Noelle & friends of SuperPowers! will provide colorful new hoops for race participants to take home with them, in exchange for a suggested donation to the Race itself. Remember, hooping is great bi-lateral brain stimulation that easily induces joy, energized calm, and the creation of healthy new neural pathways. Please do take this opportunity to hoop for a great cause, and join team SuperPowers! in the process. You can donate &/or register to be a part of the SuperPowers! team by going to Race for Hope, going to Race Team List under Quick Links on the left-hand menu bar, and scrolling down to the alphabetical listing of teams and searching for SuperPowers! Thank you in advance for all your support!
