The second annual and truly ginormous Virgin Music Festival is taking place this Saturday and Sunday (August 4 & 5) at the Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore, MD…but not without a wicked-fun & western-themed HOOLA HOOP CORRAL, to getchur spin on between your favorite bands. Look for me and a few other cowgirls and boys, along with our lasso-sized stacks of hoola hoops all set up in a sweet hooping pen for your pleasure. We’ll be hooping at the Stage of Fools from 11:30-1:30, 2:30-4, and throughout the crowd around dinner time both Saturday and Sunday. Stop by, say howdy, and stay for a spin if you are one of the fortunate concert-goers~

The lovely Philo Hagen of hooping.org, the ultimate online source for all things hooping, recently interviewed me about the Hooping Powers Revolution. Read all about my hoola hoop musings by clicking here, and please do leave a question or a comment if you are so inclined!
Hoop Sculpture
Wednesday, July 25th, 2007Here’s a sweet picture of a recent work of hoop art along with the artists (some of the young people I instruct at Joe’s) that built it. For those of you who work with small groups of youth hoopers, this can be a nice way to change the pace and encourage team work to put it together. It’s a hoop-filled twist of a Jenga-like game. Hope you enjoy!
Water Ballet Final Shows: 7.28 & 7.29
Wednesday, July 25th, 2007
Come on over to the swimming pool at Patterson Park (in Baltimore, MD) this weekend for Fluid Movement’s final run of this summer’s glittery water ballet hit, ‘War and Fleas,’ where you can catch ME as a hoola hooping canine from the wrong side of the tracks. Rather loosely based on Tolstoy’s ‘War and Peace,’ it is a tale of love, war, Napoleon, and acrobatic animals, all set in and around the (dog park) pool. Yours truly, HoopingPowers, will be playing a Flying Basenji pup known as Hoop Doggy Dogg! Shows on Saturday and Sunday, at 5pm and 7pm. Arrive a half hour early to get prime seating. Advanced tickets available at www.brownpapertickets.com (enter the words: ‘Fluid Movement’ or ‘War and Fleas’ in the Search Event box). Tickets also available at the door one hour prior to each performance. $8. It is sure to be a ridiculously fun time!
World Hoop Day in B’more
Thursday, July 5th, 2007
For all of you Baltimore hoopers looking to link up and hoop it up on this Saturday’s first annual World Hoop Day, come join us at the Inner Harbor from 3 to 5pm. Feel free to arrive earlier and/or to stay later than said block of time. Also taking place on Saturday will be the exciting African American Heritage Festival~ so there will be a LOT of people gathered around to encourage joining the hoop revolution, and wonderful musical performances to boot. Extra hoops will be on hand, but feel free to bring your own if you have them. Colorful costumes are encouraged! Please email me, hoopingpowers@gmail.com, with further questions about Baltimore’s Hoop Day happenings.
