Hope for HOPE Follow-up

Hoop with mom shotYesterday’s launching of the first annual Capital HOOP for HOPE in conjunction with DC’s Race for Hope to fight brain cancer proved to be a tremendous success. All together the HOOP for HOPE project raised over $500 in a mere 2 weeks time! Children and adults got their pre- and post-race spin on, I hooped with my dear & fabulous hooper-friend Jessie the length of the 5K, and many family members, friends, and strangers got to donate more to the race in exchange for a hoola hoop of their very own! I shared my mom’s story, and listened to inspiring stories of other strong survivors affected by brain cancer. Remember that hooping is a highly ‘neurobic’ exercise- constantly stimulating the right and left sides of your body, thus activating your two brain hemispheres back and forth, strengthening your overall brain health and fitness. And it’s super-fun to boot! What more could you ask for?! Special thanks to my friends Sue and Jim for all their help and contribution to the day, my fancy-friend Paul who hooped it up all mornin’ long on stilts(!), and all of you who donated and volunteered to make HOOP for HOPE so wonderful. Pictured is a shot of me hooping with my mom’s smiling face above~
