Master of Hoops 2006

The first of Fluid Movement’s Hoola-Hoop-A-Thons was an absolute success. The group not only raised money for their upcoming water ballet, but raised a lot of hoop-happy spirits in the process. Here’s a shot of me in my blue garb taken outside the Fluid Movement Headquarters before things got underway. The great bulk of the contest was endurance-based, consisting of two- 45 minute continuous hooping segments. The 4 top hoopers of the 90 minutes went on to an elimination round of various hooping challenges such as traveling, picking up a cup and drinking from it, improvised movement, and tricks. I am both honored and delighted to say that yours truly, Hooping Powers, was crowned (by Miss Saturn herself) the champion of the 2006 Fluid Movement Hoop-A-Thon. Thanks to everyone who organized and participated in this revolutionary day of fun! A special shout out goes to Jessie and Talia, my hoop-a-thon co-champions, who represented ’til the end for the growing community of fabulous DC hoopers.
