Hooping Gear

The other day I made the first trip of my DC life to get hooping gear around here. I brought my momma along with me- we both love ourselves some hardware stores. I was a little worried at first, not finding any polytubing at the local Home Depot mega stores. I would love to find a small local hardware store to support when buying hooping supplies…please send me ideas or links if you know of any such stores. For the time being, I ended up finding what I needed at a Lowe’s store in the suburbs of Maryland. They did not have the size selection of tubes that I am used to in Seattle, but it will surely do as a jumping off point.

Noelle, I find my hoop tubing and connectors at a plumbing store in Sykesville, Maryland. I THINK it’s called Mercer’s Plumbing. Their phone number is (410) 795-7024.

Also http://www.identi-tape.com has excellent gaffer tape for hooping, and the rolls they sell hold a rather generous amount of tape (vs. the electrical tape for sale at category killers such as Home Depot).

I read on the http://www.hooping.org site some months ago that, “In an effort to tackle these costs, we’ve worked out a deal with Karl from Identitape: Hooping.org readers can get 15% off orders of $100 or more! (This is their customary 10% off for orders over $100, plus an additional 5% for hooping.org readers.) When place your order online, just be sure to include the words “hula hula” in the comment box, which will give you a total of 15% off your $100+ order.”

See you on the dance floor, hooping, around. Jessie Newburn
