The Hooping Powers Revolution!

Hooping Powers' team consists of professional movement artists with a focus on the joy of Hoop~Dance. Founder Noelle Powers is one of the earliest establishers of the modern Maryland hooping movement. Having lived and hooped for several years in the emerald city of Seattle and then relocating to the DC~B'more area, Powers assessed that many Mid-Atlantic folks could definitely use some loosening up, and the Hooping Powers Revolution was birthed! Current Class Schedule~

We are pleased to offer dynamic hooping classes to folks of all ages, abilities, sizes, genders, and lifestyles. Hooping Powers' classes focus not only on the incredible bodily benefits of hooping, but also on the brain strengthening effects that hooping creates as well. In addition to body and brain wellness, classes emphasize each participant's unique hoopdance stylings, creating a graceful fusion of hooping fundamentals with the way in which a person normally moves through the world~

*Baltimore City:
SELF-LOVE REVOLUTION HOOPDANCE Series:

This new HOOPING POWERS class series will cover hoopdance fundamentals in the first 4 weeks, take a two week break, and then explore more accelerated movement techniques with the hoop, particularly more of off body arm/hand work with smaller "poi-friendly" hoops during the second 4 weeks, sustained spinning, and focusing on the full-body dance. Additionally, ALL classes will integrate hooping for brain health, and as a meditation~metaphor for living well and peacefully. Therefore, this class is suitable for most hooper levels~ please email from contact page if you have questions about level of ease/difficulty of curriculum.

Tuesdays 7:30-9pm January 12th through March 16, with no class on Feb. 9th or 16th (8 weeks total)

2640 St. Paul Street, Baltimore, MD 21218 (St. John's Church building)~ in the 'butterfly' room to right when you enter from the door on 27th street. Space is limited. Please pre-register and/or email to ensure a spot. Street parking available nearby the space.

**$16/drop-in rate, or $14/class if purchase full session ($112). $2/hoop rental per class, or feel free to bring your own, and/or purchase one at the first 3 classes or by request thereafter (adult hoops run approx. $35, depending on size/weight/design).

*Mount Rainier, MD:
SELF-LOVE REVOLUTION HOOPDANCE Series:

A 12-week, ongoing class at Joe's Movement Emporium to explore both hoopdance fundamentals and more advanced techniques, drills, and varied movement styles with the hoop. The first 4 weeks will focus on beginner-oriented movement and gaining a solid hooping foundation. The last 8 weeks will build on the beginner movements, and additionally explore hooping with minis, broad dance movement with the hoop, sustained spinning, and hooping as meditation-metaphor for living well and peacefully. All skill levels welcome, and feel free to email from CONTACT page if you have specific curriculum questions.

Wednesdays, January 6 through March 24, 7-8pm (12 weeks total).

Catonsville, MD:

Catonsville *youth* hooping classes~ grades 3-6, January 25- March 8 (6 weeks) on Mondays, 4:15-5:45pm. $125 total. Introducing the modern and joyful hoop revolution to young people. Hoops of various sizes will be provided for in-class practice, and some will be made available for purchase as well. We will explore basic waist hooping in both directions, arm hooping, neck hooping, hoop tricks, group-hoop games, as well as using the hoop as a prop and toy for creative movement. *Brain tumor Survivors are invited to take HoopingPowers classes at any time free of charge, as often as you like! Hoola hooping provides incredible bi-lateral brain stimulation, anti-depressant and anti-anxiety effects, and also induces an energized, calm, peaceful & meditative state. Hooping Powers' alter-ego, Strange Powers, brings a truly strange-range of characters and moods to stages and parties alike. From go-go-hooping sets to choreographed acts and musically-inspired improvisation, Strange delights crowds of all sizes and occasions with a signature wild and eclectic style of whirling movement.
